01 / The constraint
What needed to change
Fifty-plus articles were trapped in an aging WordPress install, a new book needed a proper launch page, and speaking inquiries were scattered across inboxes and DMs. The platform had to consolidate writing, books, speaking, and podcast links into one fast site — and stay updatable in the margins of a pastor's week, with no developer in the loop.
02 / The response
How I solved it
A Next.js site with its own admin. Posts live in Neon Postgres behind a TipTap editor, the homepage hero flips between book-launch and ministry modes from the admin panel, speaking events generate add-to-calendar files, and the newsletter delivers a free sample chapter of The Serpent's Head through Resend. Fifty-one WordPress posts were migrated in with a scripted import, and every content type ships structured data, RSS, and llms.txt for AI-era discoverability.
03 / Build note
How it came together
This is my own site, and it's the build I point website clients to first. It carries the full stack I bring to a website job: an editorial design with self-hosted typefaces, a real CMS the owner actually uses, forms that land in the right inbox with spam protection, and search plumbing done properly. When I say a website can be both hand-crafted and easy to run, this is the proof.
