01 / The constraint
What needed to change
Pastors spend 10–15 hours a week on sermon prep, most of it lost to mechanical work — hunting cross-references, formatting outlines, rebuilding slides, and retyping the same passage into four different tools. Meanwhile, the AI tools entering the space were writing sermons for pastors instead of helping them study.
02 / The response
How I solved it
One workspace that carries a sermon from passage to pulpit: exegetical research, outline structuring, illustration prompts, and slide-ready output — with the pastor's own voice and theology preserved at every step. AI assists the study; it doesn't replace it.
03 / Build note
How it came together
SermonBuild came out of my own Saturday nights. I pastor a church full-time, and sermon prep was the work I loved most and had the least margin for. I built the first version for myself, then other pastors started asking for logins. It's now the flagship product under Better Church Apps.
